Un soir, sans intention particulière, j'ai observé la femme en robe rouge de la peinture, assise au comptoir d'un café nommé Phillies, entourée de trois hommes. Alors, çà s'est imposé à moi, sans que j'aie rien cherché. J'ai eu l'envie impérieuse de raconter l'histoire de cette femme et des trois hommes autour d'elle, et d'un café de Cape Cod. "
